My Most Anticipated Games of E3 2018

E3 2018 has officially come to a close. It smacked us right in the face with plenty of new game announcements, game previews, some solid press conferences, and some not so solid press conferences. *cough cough* Square Enix *cough cough* Now begins the hard part of waiting for these new games to actually release to the public! Here are 10 that I am impatiently waiting for the most:

10. Death Stranding

Kojima’s first game, post-Konami, looks like a weird one. This E3 brought us a new trailer with a little bit of gameplay. Nothing makes sense, but getting a new game from Hideo Kojima is a win in my book. Sadly, we still have no release date.

9. Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Fire Emblem on the Nintendo Switch!!! Need I say more? It looks like your typical Fire Emblem game, but with a few slight changes. The trailer features your controlled characters commanding small armies. Nintendo did not provide any information outside of the E3 trailer. Fire Emblem: Three House is slated to arrive in 2019.

8. The Last of Us Part II

Sony gave us a brutal new gameplay trailer during their press conference. Also if you have not played TLOU DLC, Left Behind, like me, (I know, I know judge away) you find out something new about Ellie. The first game was incredible. I can only imagine how good Part II will be.

7. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Translated to “one-armed wolf: ninjas die twice,” is the latest game from the Souls developer, From Software. A teaser was shown at the 2017 Game Awards and everyone, including me, thought it might be Bloodborne 2. It is a bit disappointing that it was not Bloodborne 2, but Sekiro looks solid. You play as a ninja with a crazy weaponized prosthetic arm who can… die twice. We do not have a set release date, but it is scheduled to come out in 2019.

6. Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 5 may have been leaked, like many other games, before E3, but I was instantly hype when I read the news. This is the first true sequel for the series in 10 years! It will be over 10 years when this actually comes out, though as Devil May Cry 5 is to be released in 2019.

5. Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima was teased last year at Paris Games Week. It already had my attention taking place in feudal Japan. E3 2018 brought us some incredible gameplay. Everything from the scenery to the Witcher like swordplay is an absolute joy to watch. This looks like a winner for Sucker Punch, for sure.

4. Super Smash Bro. Ultimate

The world was set on fire when Nintendo announced that Super Smash Brothers would be appearing on the Switch, back in March. Questions immediately arose on whether it would be a port of the WiiU version or not. Well, now we know that the Switch version is a completely new entry to the franchise. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the absolute ultimate version. Every single character in Super Smash Bros. history has returned and we get it this year! Look for Super Smash Bros to be released December 7th, 2018.

3. Spider-Man

Those who know me, know I am a huge fan of Spider-Man. For years I have been wanting a Spider-Man game on the same level as the Batman Arkham games. The last really good Spider-Man game, in my opinion, was the Spider-man 2 movie game for the PlayStation 2. It had some of the most realistic web-slinging and was just all around fun. Insomniac has answered my prayers and I couldn’t be happier. Spider-Man looks absolutely fantastic and I absolutely cannot wait to play it.

2. Kingdom Hearts III

Talk about a long time coming! KH fans have been waiting an eternity for the third game in the franchise. We can all rest a bit easier now that we have been given plenty of new trailers, gameplay, and even a release date! Unfortunately, it will miss this year. After a dozen or so spin-off games, and numerous delays, Kingdom Hearts III is set to be released on January 29th, 2019… unless it gets delayed again and we go back to square one waiting another eternity. Fingers crossed that does not happen.

1. Cyberpunk 2077

Hot off the heels of what is quite possibly one of the greatest games in video game history, The Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red has emerged to show off its new upcoming game, Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk was originally announced way back in 2012 and teased in 2013. Based on the trailer, and reading so many positive things about the closed doors demo, it seems like it was worth the wait. So far there has been no information given on a release date. CDPR will announce that when it is 100% ready. Hopefully, we can get a glimpse of the demo or maybe a demo release sometime soon. I am itching to try it out.

And that concludes my top ten. What games are you most excited to play? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
