Street Fighter V’s Next DLC Character is Kolin

thegeekdojo.net

Kolin is otherwise known as Gill’s personal assistant from Street Fighter 3. She has ice based powers and quite a few combos, similar to Karin. Channeling straight from the Capcom Unity blog:

“After working in the shadows for Gill and the secret Illuminati organization, Kolin makes her Street Fighter V debut. First appearing in Street Fighter III, Kolin works behind the scenes in order to fulfill the Prophecy of Miraha and stop any who dare stand in Gill’s way. She is typically calm and collected, but can suddenly fly into a rage when anybody threatens Gill and his plans. Spoiler-alert, she resurrects Nash and uses him as a pawn too, showing she will do anything to achieve her goals.”

Kolin will be available February 28th. Check out her reveal trailer below featuring a new song from hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco.

Check out the Capcom Unity blog for all the extra details, such as fighting style, v-trigger, v-skill, and costumes for Kolin.

My Top 5 Video Games of 2016

Another year down, more video games to countdown. There was plenty to play in the year of 2016, but unfortunately I cannot play them all. Here are 5 of my most definite favorites though. Lets start with some honorable mentions:

Street Fighter V: Street Fighter V just missed the cut because it got off to a rough start. It got pushed out to the public a bit early and ultimately was an unfinished product. Capcom has been working hard to fix some of the issues with it and its now shaping up to be a pretty great game. The future of Street Fighter V is looking bright.

Dark Souls 3: I’ve never been that big of a fan of this series, but I was able to have quite a bit of fun with DS3. It wont make me like the Souls games over Bloodborne though. Still hoping a sequel will be made.

And the FINAL honorable mention goes to Final Fantasy XV. FFXV is a fantastic game, but it left more to be desired from me. We do know that Square-Enix has future DLC plans for the game, which is exciting.

Now for the Top 5: Continue reading

The Demon Himself, Akuma, Will Grace Street Fighter V on December 20th

thegeekdojo.net

Even though Yoshinori Ono tried to steer us away from thinking Akuma was going to be playable in SFV, to nobody’s surprise Akuma will be playable in SFV. A reveal trailer was shown off at PlayStation Experience, this past weekend.

Akuma, and his lion mane, will be available on the 20th of this month. He will be the first season 2 dlc chracter.

Capcom Details the Big June Update for Street Fighter V

xOIN7Xs.jpg

June looks to be a pretty big month for Street Fighter V. The long awaited story mode “A Shadow Falls,” drops this month as well as the next DLC chracter, Ibuki.

“A Shadow Falls” will be a 3 to 4 hour story. It will be 5 chapters long and will drop at the end of this month. The story takes place between Street Fighter III and Street Fighter IV. Players will be able to witness all events that took place between those two games.

Plot description:

“A Shadow Falls,” depicts the ultimate battle between the evil Shadaloo organization and the heroic World Warriors who rise up against them. Seven “Black Moons” are deployed by Shadaloo, granting M. Bison unimaginable power and enveloping the earth in total darkness. Seeing the moons mysteriously appear in the sky, Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li embark on an epic journey around the world to retrieve fragment pieces that are the key to stopping the “Black Moons” before it’s too late. Along the way, they encounter the rest of the World Warriors, each of whom have their own agendas and motivations in mind. The final battle between good and evil begins now… who will RISE UP?

Another bit of cool news is that all six DLC characters will be fully playable in story mode. Balrog, Urien, and Juri’s story mode will be available to play before their actual release later this year. This will give you a preview of the upcoming characters so you can get a feel for their play styles.

The Zenny shop will not be put into the game. Transactions will be handled through the PlayStation Store and Steam. Alex and Guile will no longer be free to play when the update goes live. Here is a breakdown of how much everything will cost with in-game and real currency:

As you can see, premium costumes are also included in the chart. You will finally be able to get that “Hot Ryu” skin you missed out on, because you didn’t get the game from GameStop.

It makes the Street Fighter fan base feel a little bit more at ease now that Capcom has addressed the communication problem. A lot of people, including myself were a bit ticked off that Capcom waited until the end of last moth to tell us Ibuki was getting delayed. Lets hope Capcom can keep us this informed as time goes by.

Guile Joins the Street Fighter V Roster on the 28th.

thegeekdojo.com

We all knew Guile would be dropping by the end of the month of April, but didn’t know when. As of tonight, we have a concrete release date.

Earlier tonight on Capcom Pro talk with Mike Ross, Peter “Combofiend” Rosas was the featured guest. After a heated first to 3 match between the two, Combofiend shared with the world the official release date of the “Family Man.” Guile will be available to play in Street Fighter V, this Thursday, April 28th at 7pm Pacific time.

Guile will be looking to shake things up as he is the first true defensive and full charge based character. Check out his reveal trailer below.

What Are Ya Playin’ This Weekend?

thegeekdojo.net

Happy Friday gamers! It’s been a while since “What are ya playin,” has made an appearance, but its back! Heck, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but I took an unintentional break from writing, but lets talk some video games.

I will be working on keeping my cool while trying to play Dark Souls 3. I have beaten 5 bosses so far so I am making progress! I will also be playing the Overwatch Beta and will be squeezing some Street Fighter V in as well.

That’s enough about me, what about you? What are you playing this weekend? Sound off in the comment section.

Capcom (Finally) Gives a Release Date for the Big SFV March Update

Many of us Street Fighter fans have been impatiently waiting for Capcom to give a release date for the SFV March update. Today Capcom has finally delivered and it is just as many of us have expected: Capcom will wait until the end of the month to drop all of this content. Thats the good news. The bad news is that there will be 2 separate drops of content.

March 28th (Mon) we will get all of the content that has been talked about all month. The Challenge Mode, Online Rematch Option, 8 player lobbies, various bug fixes and game improvements. All of that will be up for download on Monday. Notice there is no mention of Alex.

Two days later on March 30th (Wed), the in-game shop will be added as well as Alex. The in-game shop is where you will be able to purchase Alex, plus costumes for other characters. Alex will cost 100,000 Fight Money so I hope you have been grinding. Costumes will cost 40,000 Fight Money each.

One feature that will not be included with the update is the real money functionality known as Zenny in SFV. Since it is not ready, Alex will be available to play for a free trial period for all players until the Zenny shop opens.

As a thank you for your patience, Chun Li and Ryu’s story costumes will be available for free on March 30th.

thegeekdojo.net

After being so quiet about it all month, its nice to finally have some closure from Capcom. Many fans, including myself, are not quite happy about all of this dropping at the end of the month though. Street Fighter V essentially launched as an $60 early access game. It weird to get all of of these features over a month since the game has been out. Hopefully Capcom can straighten things out from here on out.

I am fully enjoying the game, but some things like this are a bit irritating. How do you feel about this whole incomplete game fiasco? Sound off in the comment section.
