Here is a Quick Look at Cuphead’s Platforming Gameplay

The old school, Disney cartoon inspired game Cuphead is almost ready to be released on Xbox One and PC. Just ahead of E3, StudioMDHR along with IGN decided it would be nice to show off some gameplay.

The game features run-and-gun gameplay that could be compared to Mega Man. In the video you can see Cuphead fight his way through a forest level ducking, dodging, jumping, and shooting a few enemies you will encounter while playing the game. Check out the IGN video above.

Cuphead was shown off at E3 2014 when it was less than 50% complete. It was originally supposed to come out last year, but StudioMDHR had to delay the game. It is now expected to come out this year on XB1 and PC, but there is no release date just yet. Despite the delay, it looks like StudioMDHR has been hard at work. The game still looks great and has my attention. Cuphead’s art direction makes it one of the most original games I’ve seen in quite some time. I will definitely be picking it up.

Persona 5 Won’t Come Westward Until 2017

thegeekdojo.net

Many fans, including myself, were hoping the next Persona game would drop this fall in North America. Today Atlus hit us with some pretty sad news. Persona 5 will be out in North America on February 14th, 2017.

That’s a whopping 5 month gap between when it releases in Japan and when it releases in N.A. Looking at the silver lining, this gives me plenty of time to play Final Fantasy XV and a number of other games that are in my backlog/coming out this year. I’m not sure if I would be able to handle FFXV and P5 coming out in the same year.

Atlus also showed off the box art and released information about the special editions that we will be able to purchase in North America. Check it all out below.

thegeekdojo.net

IRVINE, Calif. – June 7, 2016 – The jig is up for the Phantom Thieves on February 14, 2017, when the next numbered entry in the award-winning Persona series makes its debut in the Americas. Besides the PS3 game there will be a special PS4 SteelBook® Launch Edition as well as a limited “Take Your Heart” Premium Edition. Find out more details here:atlus.com/persona5.

The details of the two limited PS4 editions of the games are:

  • Collectible outer box: Easily the largest premium edition in ATLUS’ history, the entirety of the “Take Your Heart” Premium Edition comes in a colossal collectible box.

Persona 5 is a game about the internal and external conflicts of a group of troubled high school students – the protagonist and a collection of compatriots he meets in the game’s story – who live dual lives as Phantom Thieves. They have the typically ordinary day-to-day of a Tokyo high schooler: attending class, after-school activities, and part-time jobs. But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the “self”; the game’s heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and by literally ripping off their protective mask and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and using it to help those in need. Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern society wears.

Persona 5 will release on Feb. 14, 2017 in the Americas, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Pre-orders are now available at participating retailers. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB. For more information, please visit the official website, atlus.com/persona5

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Will Come Out in 2017

thegeekdojo.net

Battlefront 2 will feature “bigger and better worlds,” EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said during an earnings call today. The game will also feature content from the new movies so expect to see stuff from Episode VII. The first game only featured content from the original trilogy.

Jorgensen also said that EA plans to release a new Star Wars game every year for the next three to four years. He also confirmed that the Star Wars action game from the Dead Space developers, Visceral, will be coming out next year as well. The third-person action adventure Star Wars game from Titanfall developers, Respawn, was mentioned, but with no planned release window.

With all of that info being dropped in one day, it sounds like we will have plenty of Star Wars video games to keep us busy between movies. I just hope Battlefront 2 is a major improvement.

Meet the 3 New Starter Pokemon of Sun and Moon

Nintendo hit us with quite a bit of new information about Pokemon Sun and Moon today. New starters were revealed and a release date of November 18th, was given.

The water starter is Popplio, a Sea Lion Pokemon. Rowlet is the owl Pokemon. He is a grass flying type. Last, but not least, is Litten. A flaming hairball spitting fire type cat Pokemon. All 3 starter Pokemon are pictured in the image below.

thegeekdojo.net

The new region of Pokemon Sun and Moon is called Alola and is Hawaiian inspired.

Also, shown off today is the box art of both games featuring the Sun and Moon legendaries on the front. The Sun cover features a lion Pokemon, while the Moon box art features a bat looking Pokemon. You can get a better look at those two in the trailer at the top of the page.

thegeekdojo.net

Initial response from Pokemon fans seem to favor Litten the most, Rowlet second, and Popplio dead last. I personally agree with the masses. I have started every Pokemon game with a water starter and think Popplio is the worst looking one, but as the day has gone by he is starting to grow on me. I will probably still pick him to keep the water starter streak alive.

What’s you take on the new Pokemon starters? Do you love them or hate them? SOund off in the comment section.
