On January 9th, Microsoft announced that development of their upcoming exclusive, Scalebound was coming to an end. Platinum Games has released a statement on the matter today.
“We’re sorry to say that on January 9, 2017, Microsoft Studios announced the cancellation of Scalebound. We are very disappointed things ended up this way, especially since we know many of our fans were looking forward to this game as much as we were.
We will keep working hard to meet your expectations and we look forward to your continued support!
President and CEO Kenichi Sato”
Scalebound’s director, Hideki Kamiya, also took to Twitter to express how sorry he is about the game being cancelled, but he promises to work extra hard on Platinum’s upcoming projects. NieR: Automata comes out in March and Platinum also has two other announced games, Granblue Fantasy Project Re:Link, and Lost Order. Both games are yet to be announced for the west, but look/seem promising.
Bioware announced in a blog post, today that Mass Effect: Andromeda will be released on March 21st in North America, March 23rd internationally. March is looking pretty crowded with game releases at the moment.
Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Another year down, more video games to countdown. There was plenty to play in the year of 2016, but unfortunately I cannot play them all. Here are 5 of my most definite favorites though. Lets start with some honorable mentions:
Street Fighter V: Street Fighter V just missed the cut because it got off to a rough start. It got pushed out to the public a bit early and ultimately was an unfinished product. Capcom has been working hard to fix some of the issues with it and its now shaping up to be a pretty great game. The future of Street Fighter V is looking bright.
Dark Souls 3: I’ve never been that big of a fan of this series, but I was able to have quite a bit of fun with DS3. It wont make me like the Souls games over Bloodborne though. Still hoping a sequel will be made.
And the FINAL honorable mention goes to Final Fantasy XV. FFXV is a fantastic game, but it left more to be desired from me. We do know that Square-Enix has future DLC plans for the game, which is exciting.
Like Rockstar promised earlier this week, here is a quick glimpse into the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s just a tease, but it gets you excited enough to know that its really on the way.
Look for Red Dead Redemption 2 to be released Fall 2017.
Nintendo released a video this morning giving the world its first looks at the next Nintendo console. Know as the NX for quite sometime, the official name is now Switch. That name pretty much fits with the console since it can be played on your TV or on the go. We all know this is the successor to the WiiU, but there is no word on whether Nintendo will keep making handheld systems since the Switch offers portability as well.
In the video you can see how the system functions. It essentially looks like a modernized WiiU gamepad, but with way more functionality. Controllers slide off of each side of the handheld screen, then you combine them on another contraption to get the true living room, console experience. Rumors that the Switch would be cartridge based were spot on. Check out the video below.
The Switch seems to already be garnering quite a bit of third party support as well. Skyrim can even be seen running on the Switch during the video.
The Nintendo Switch is dated to launch March 2017. Hopefully Nintendo has a Nintendo Direct planned sometime soon so we can get more information on the Switch.
Titled Ashes of Ariandel, the DLC pack will be released on October 25th. It features a new snow covered world, new armor sets, weapons, and magic.
Judging from the trailer, the DLC will have some new story content as well. Early reports were saying the new content would only revolve around PVP. Check out the trailer below.
Happy first weekend of Summer, and it is a hot one! I hope you are able to get plenty of gaming in this weekend.
I will be playing some competitive Overwatch. The mode recently launched in Public Test Realm. I played a few games earlier and lost all 3. Hopefully I can win the last 7. Trails of Cold Steel will also be played and Tokyo Mirage Sessions just arrived in my mailbox today. I will probably play the first hour or so just to see how it is.
If you’re into fighting game tournaments, the big CEO tournament is happening in Orlando this weekend and it should be pretty good. Games like Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros, MKX, Guilty Gear, and many more will all be featured.
That’s enough about me, what about you? What are you playing this weekend?
The third campaign will feature Specter Knight, a boss in the original Shovel Knight campaign. There is no word on when the DLC will be available, but Yacht Club Games says to expect it “sooner than the wait between Shovel Knight and Plague Knight.”
More DLC is in development as well. The King Knight, Body Swap, and Battle Mode will be available at some point in the future. All DLC will be 100% free.
We’re creating two new Shovel Knight campaign updates! Specter is cool and King Knight rules. Here he is in action! pic.twitter.com/tkIwxcA2Xy
