The announcment was made this past weekend at the end of The King of the Iron Fist Tekken 7 Tournament and it came as a surprise to us all.

All of the past Tekken 7 trailers have featured Heihachi’s wife, Kazumi, talking to a mysterious person about stopping her husband if she could not do it herself. The trailer shown at the Tekken 7 tournament reveals who that mysterious person is and it is non other that the raging demon himself, Akuma.

While this may be a pleasant surprise, (I’m already talking trash with friends) this reveal also brings up the question about Tekken X Street Fighter’s development. Tekken’s Katsushiro Harada has said that the game is still in development, but we haven’t seen anything on it a very long time. It’s also weird that Akuma will be appearing in the next Tekken game, but will not be on the initial Street Fighter V roster. This could also be the beginning of Tekken and Street Fighter merging story lines. I won’t rule out the possibility that a Tekken character could pop up in Street Fighter V.

There is no information on when Tekken 7 Fated Retribution will drop just yet.
