Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse Will Be Released This Summer

thegeekdojo.net

Known as SMT IV: Final in Japan, the game gets a name change for its North American audience. Atlus does not have a specific date other than just Summer 2016. I would bet that it will come out in July since SMT IV came out in July back in 2013.

SMT: Apocalypse takes place in the same universe as 2013’s SMT IV. Apocalypse looks to ditch the samurai setting for a more apocalyptic setting, hence the name of the game. The main character looks like an anime version of a Fallout character. Check out the announcement teaser trailer below.

What Are Ya Playin’ This Weekend?

thegeekdojo.net

Happy Friday gamers! It’s been a while since “What are ya playin,” has made an appearance, but its back! Heck, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but I took an unintentional break from writing, but lets talk some video games.

I will be working on keeping my cool while trying to play Dark Souls 3. I have beaten 5 bosses so far so I am making progress! I will also be playing the Overwatch Beta and will be squeezing some Street Fighter V in as well.

That’s enough about me, what about you? What are you playing this weekend? Sound off in the comment section.

Capcom (Finally) Gives a Release Date for the Big SFV March Update

Many of us Street Fighter fans have been impatiently waiting for Capcom to give a release date for the SFV March update. Today Capcom has finally delivered and it is just as many of us have expected: Capcom will wait until the end of the month to drop all of this content. Thats the good news. The bad news is that there will be 2 separate drops of content.

March 28th (Mon) we will get all of the content that has been talked about all month. The Challenge Mode, Online Rematch Option, 8 player lobbies, various bug fixes and game improvements. All of that will be up for download on Monday. Notice there is no mention of Alex.

Two days later on March 30th (Wed), the in-game shop will be added as well as Alex. The in-game shop is where you will be able to purchase Alex, plus costumes for other characters. Alex will cost 100,000 Fight Money so I hope you have been grinding. Costumes will cost 40,000 Fight Money each.

One feature that will not be included with the update is the real money functionality known as Zenny in SFV. Since it is not ready, Alex will be available to play for a free trial period for all players until the Zenny shop opens.

As a thank you for your patience, Chun Li and Ryu’s story costumes will be available for free on March 30th.

After being so quiet about it all month, its nice to finally have some closure from Capcom. Many fans, including myself, are not quite happy about all of this dropping at the end of the month though. Street Fighter V essentially launched as an $60 early access game. It weird to get all of of these features over a month since the game has been out. Hopefully Capcom can straighten things out from here on out.

I am fully enjoying the game, but some things like this are a bit irritating. How do you feel about this whole incomplete game fiasco? Sound off in the comment section.

Project Setsuna is Coming to the West This Summer

thegeekdojo.net

The first game from Square Enix’s Tokyo RPG Factory, I Am Setsuna, will be hitting PS4 and Steam this Summer. Hopefully a PS Vita port will be announced as well for the English version.

The game has been out since February for Japan and it is inspired by older RPGs such as Chrono Trigger. I Am Setsuna actually uses the same active time battle system as found in early Final Fantasy games and Chrono Trigger so it’s bound to be a great game.

When Project Setsuna was announced at last year, Tokyo RPG Factory stated they wanted to create games that are heavely influenced by classic RPGs. Check out the trailer below.
