Street Fighter V Beta Starts Today [Updated]

thegeekdojo.wordpress.com“Gonna burn some muscle!”

Update: The Street Fighter V beta has been temporarily taken down. The beta launched with issues from the start, with people saying they couldn’t log in at all.

This really should be to no ones surprise. The game is in fact a beta, so problems are bound to happen. I got to play for 10 glorious minutes before I was kicked out to the start screen for the umpteenth time. Stay tuned to find out when the SFV beta goes back online.

Original Story: The SFV beta will run for 5 days and it starts tonight! I have read that the beta will go live at 9pm EST. Be sure to check your email for your beta code, if you haven’t already, so you can pre-load the game. Keep in mind that this beta is only testing online capabilities and dlc delivery so there are no extra network capabilities like local play or playing online with friends. This is the first of 3 betas so I’m sure we will get more network capabilities as time goes on. I hope you’re just as excited as  I am. Enjoy the beta because I know I will.

I will also be streaming the beta later this evening so if you’re missing out on the beta, come hangout with me over on my Twitch channel under the Geek Dojo TV tab. It should be some fun times.

What Are ya Playin’ this Weekend?

thegeekdojo.wordpress.com

It’s finally here again gamers! It’s the weekend! Hopefully you are able to get some good playing time in.

I will hopefully be getting back into Destiny again. I need to level up my Titan to max level. I’ve been behind for quite while. I had to be carried through the Crota hard mode raid at level 30. Plenty of Heroes of the Storm will be played as well so if you want to party up in that, let me know. I’m level 40 now and starting to gear up for some Hero League.

Evo 2015 also kicked off today and it should be another great year for the F.G.C. I will definitely be tuning in to that was well all weekend.

That’s enough about me, what about you? What are you playing this weekend?

My Top 5 Most Anticipated Games For the Second Half of 2015

The first half of 2015 has given us plenty of great games so far. We’ve even gotten a glimpse into the bright future of video games with one of, if not the best, E3 convention ever. With a number of AAA titles like the PlayStation exclusive Bloodborne, the fantastic Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Batman Arkham Knight, (non PC version) we as gamers have been pretty busy. Throw in a few other games like Mortal Kombat X, Dying Light, Final Fantasy Type-0/FFXV demo this has been a fantastic year so far and it’s only halfway over! There’s still more to come! Here’s a look at some of my most anticipated games for the rest of 2015.   Continue reading

Ken is Officially in Street Fighter V

GeekDojoSFVken

After much speculation that he could possibly not be in the game, Ken was officially revealed today at the San Diego Comic Con. A reveal trailer was shown during the Street Fighter V panel and was met with great praise.

Ken looks a bit different this time around sporting a new hairdo and an exposed compression shirt under his martial arts gi. His moves look just as fast as ever with some devastating combos and a spinning kick that hearken back to his Marvel Vs. Capcom days. After watching the trailer, I can already image the number of Kens i will run into during online play. Check out the reveal trailer below.

Here Are 18 Glorious Minutes of No Man’s Sky

IGN First’s game of the month is No Man’s Sky and they recently got to sit with the creator, Sean Murray, to give a more in dept look of the game. Some of the highlights include animal discovery and being able to name the animals what ever you want, mining, and also weapon upgrades. We also get to see the seamless transition from planet to space and vise-versa. Sean Murray even tells us what the main objective of the game is for players, but I wont spoil that. Watch the video for yourself to find out.

Prepare to have your mind blown.

There is still no word on when No Man’s Sky will grace the PC and PS4 just yet, but hopefully this year.

What are ya Playin’ This Weekend?

The weekend is finally here again and hopefully you’re able to get plenty of game time in.
I will be getting back into Destiny after being on hiatus for a quite a while. I’m excited to experience all of the changes Bungie has implemented. I will also be trying to finish up The Witcher 3. (I know I’m being slow but there’s so much to do!)

That’s enough about me, what about you? What games are you playing this weekend? Sound off in the comments below.

Shenmue 3 Has Already Hit it’s Kickstarter Goal of $2 million

shenmue-trademark-canceled-in-us-due-to-inactivity_f6s5

Ever since that announcement was made last night at Sony’s press conference, fans of the series went clamoring to the Kickstarter website to “Save Shenmue.” Apparently the Kickstarter website even had some problems processing all of the backers for Shenmue 3. The game has already met it’s goal as of this morning and it now becomes the fastest game to raise $2 million. Matter of fact it only took just 9 hours and the project still has 31 days left on Kickstarter.

It’ll be interesting to see if any stretch goals are created to raise even more money. I think it would be neat to include Shenmue 1 and 2 along with 3 all for the PlayStation 4. That would be the ultimate gift for any Shenmue fan. Another neat idea would be a special edition Dreamcast controller that works on PS4. That’s just wishful thinking though.

There is no release date for Shenmue 3 just yet, but the Kickstarter page has everything listed to be shipped by December 2017.

You can go back the game here!

My Opinion on the Final Fantasy VII Remake

That’s pretty much it. I mean what else is there to be said?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the last 24hrs, there were rumors that a FF7 remake was going to be announced by Sony. The lie detector determined that was true and Square says we get the game in 2017. Everybody rejoice! Take a look at the trailer below.

It’s only been one day into E3 and I already give E3 2015 an A+.
