For Honor Open Beta Will be Held Next Weekend

thegeekdojo.net

If you missed out on the For Honor closed beta last weekend, you will still have a chance to try out Ubisoft’s brutal, melee combat fighter before is releases on the 14th.

The open beta will start on February 9th and end on February 12th. You will be able to play on XB1, PS4, and PC. The beta will have the same modes as the closed beta, Duel, Brawl, and Dominion, but you will also be able to try the new Elimination mode- a best of five series of four on four matches with no respawns. War of Factions will also be continued throughout the beta.

Before the beta starts, Ubisoft’s Twitch stream will host a celebrity livestream featuring Lauren Cohen, Jason Momoa, Alfie Allen, and Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse” Johnson. Star Wars Battlefront 2 Will Release This Year

thegeekdojo.net

2015’s Star Wars Battlefront left a lot to be desired. It’s not necessarily a bad game, but it does not live up to what Battlefront used to be. EA and DICE realize that and will fix that in the upcoming sequel.

EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson, stated in a recent earnings call that the next Battlefront game will be released this holiday season. It will feature a new single player campaign mode as well.

“There will be new ways to play, including an all-new single-player campaign, and much, much more that we are excited to share with our player in the months ahead,” Wilson stated.

Wilson also mentioned that the game will be bigger, have more locations, and more characters that span across multiple Star Wars stories. It’s safe to say Rogue One and The Force Awakens will for sure be included in this one. Check out the statement to shareholders to see for yourself.

My Top 5 Video Games of 2016

Another year down, more video games to countdown. There was plenty to play in the year of 2016, but unfortunately I cannot play them all. Here are 5 of my most definite favorites though. Lets start with some honorable mentions:

Street Fighter V: Street Fighter V just missed the cut because it got off to a rough start. It got pushed out to the public a bit early and ultimately was an unfinished product. Capcom has been working hard to fix some of the issues with it and its now shaping up to be a pretty great game. The future of Street Fighter V is looking bright.

Dark Souls 3: I’ve never been that big of a fan of this series, but I was able to have quite a bit of fun with DS3. It wont make me like the Souls games over Bloodborne though. Still hoping a sequel will be made.

And the FINAL honorable mention goes to Final Fantasy XV. FFXV is a fantastic game, but it left more to be desired from me. We do know that Square-Enix has future DLC plans for the game, which is exciting.

Now for the Top 5: Continue reading

What are Ya Playin’ This Weekend?

Happy first weekend of Summer, and it is a hot one! I hope you are able to get plenty of gaming in this weekend.

I will be playing some competitive Overwatch. The mode recently launched in Public Test Realm. I played a few games earlier and lost all 3. Hopefully I can win the last 7. Trails of Cold Steel will also be played and Tokyo Mirage Sessions just arrived in my mailbox today. I will probably play the first hour or so just to see how it is.

If you’re into fighting game tournaments, the big CEO tournament is happening in Orlando this weekend and it should be pretty good. Games like Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros, MKX, Guilty Gear, and many more will all be featured.

That’s enough about  me, what about you? What are you playing this weekend?

Shovel Knight is Getting More Free DLC

thegeekdojo.net

The third campaign will feature Specter Knight, a boss in the original Shovel Knight campaign. There is no word on when the DLC will be available, but Yacht Club Games says to expect it “sooner than the wait between Shovel Knight and Plague Knight.”

More DLC is in development as well. The King Knight, Body Swap, and Battle Mode will be available at some point in the future. All DLC will be 100% free.

What Are Ya Playin’ This Weekend?

It’s finally here again gamers! It’s the weekend and I hope you are able to get plenty of game time in.

thegeekdojo.net

I will be playing quite a bit of Overwatch. That game has my undivided attention for the most part. I will also be playing Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel. I took a bit of a break from it back in February shortly after Street Fighter V came out. I dove back into it within this past week and I hate that I stopped playing. It is a very good RPG.
